About our classroom
Are you ready to be challenged? Complete science experiments that fascinate your thinking? Experience history firsthand? Are you ready to be a model class to other classes in the United States? Welcome to Ms. Jasztal’s fourth grade classroom, where you will be valued as an individual and hopefully learn to appreciate all kinds of new things.
I have been a fourth-grade teacher at Moton since the 2004-2005 school year. In April 2004, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Flagler College in St. Augustine. Though interning in St. Johns County was a great experience, I decided to return to Hernando County, where I attended school from kindergarten through my senior year of high school. Being close to my family has always been something I have valued.
Hands-on exploration and experimentation are extremely important, in my opinion. So is the way that students in my class carry themselves. Respect is the trait I value the most in a student. I try my hardest to make lessons engaging beyond the norm, which opens up opportunities where the class can launch rockets and go on amazing historical field trips.
Additionally, I am the grades 3-5 advisor at Scholastic.com. Five teachers are selected from across the nation, so this is one of the most incredible honors I have received in my life. Sometimes I create videos of students working together as models for other teachers in the United States. The students in the class also create podcasts, as we have a “radio show” called the jPod. I have maintained a classroom website (http://www.teachingvision.org) since my second year at Moton and have had visitors from around the world. Having a classroom website makes it possible for you and relatives to see what is going on in your child’s life.
I value when parents visit our classroom. There will be many opportunities for you to become involved this year, whether it is the Thanksgiving feast, one of our field trips, assisting during different subjects, or being able to watch your child share stories (s)he has written.
I am prepared for a sensational school year. Thank you for taking the first step to learning about your child’s fourth grade experience.
